Welcome to your network of support. From orientation to graduation, advisors at the University of Michigan are eager to help you plan for every step of the journey.
There is truly an advisor for everyone. Our advisors come from varied backgrounds and life experiences, offering insights into any undergraduate major, graduate school pathway, or specialized study or research program at U-M. Many also attended graduate school, studied and lived abroad, and worked in businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Pre-health advising is a service for students and alumni who are exploring, preparing, and applying to health professional programs including dental, medical, physician assistant, pharmacy, optometry, and more. If you are not an LSA student or alumni, please contact your school or college to determine if there is a dedicated pre-health advisor available to help you. Note: all students are welcome to attend our Pre-Health Drop-In advising as well as our programs and events.
Housed in Newnan, our team provides pre-professional advising services to UM students and alumni of every college. We work with students from exploration through application, and provide guidance and support for their post-application needs.
Newnan Student Success Advisors provide support to students navigating academic or personal difficulties by offering individualized coaching and helping them identify alternative strategies for academic achievement. The team engages with LSA students placed on academic notice and facilitates programs designed to foster academic progress and overall student success.
The Residential College Advising Team provides advising for all RC students, LSA students taking RC majors or minors, and LSA students interested in transferring into the RC.
The U.P. Scholars Program provides wraparound support, community, coaching, and need-based scholarship aid for four years of undergraduate study at U-M exclusively to incoming students from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Individualized, one-on-one coaching with professional U.P. Scholars staff is available for any U-M student from the Upper Peninsula regardless of their school or college.
Academic advising is a process where you envision, execute, and reflect on your academic plans with guidance from a Master of Applied Data Science Academic Advisor. You will share your goals, challenges, and questions with your academic advisor, and we will contribute knowledge of university and program requirements, policies, and processes. Together, we will develop an academic plan that aligns with your personal and professional goals.
The School of Education Office of Student Affairs is a resource for prospective and current students, student organizations, faculty, administration, staff, and alumni. The staff are ready to support inquiries related to admissions, financial aid, registration, advising, course selection, teacher certification, retention concerns, and graduation requirements.

Students share their goals, challenges, and questions with their academic advisor, and their academic advisor contributes knowledge of university and program requirements, policies, and processes. Together, we develop an academic plan that aligns with the student’s personal and professional goals.
The Office of Student Life supports students’ academic development and personal well-being so they thrive while they’re at Michigan Law, and enter the legal profession well-equipped to lead and serve. Together, we develop an academic plan that aligns with the student’s personal and professional goals.
The Multidisciplinary Design Program provides hands-on opportunities for students to earn academic credit doing real-world project work through research, industry, or engineering student teams. MDP’s professional and peer advisors advise students about MDP project options, MDP minor coursework, and making the most of the MDP experience.
U-M School of Nursing students at all levels are invited and encouraged to take advantage of Academic Advising.
Advisors support academic success through: Providing and referring students to resources, planning and executing a course plan, helping students understand curriculum and program requirements (including nursing licensure), assisting with the transfer of credits, approving add/drop of courses and semester withdrawals, and granting overrides for taking more than 18 credits.
