Welcome to your network of support. From orientation to graduation, advisors at the University of Michigan are eager to help you plan for every step of the journey.
There is truly an advisor for everyone. Our advisors come from varied backgrounds and life experiences, offering insights into any undergraduate major, graduate school pathway, or specialized study or research program at U-M. Many also attended graduate school, studied and lived abroad, and worked in businesses and nonprofit organizations.

We provide our student-athletes with academic support through: academic advising, supervised study table program, tutorial program, Sweetland Writing Center, Karen and Steve Sanger Math Lab, and the Engineering Computer Lab.
SAAS offers Academic Support & Access Partnerships (ASAP) to help students registered with our office make the most of their academic experience here at the University. ASAP workshops, coaching and other educational initiatives are focused on enhancing the academic experiences of students. Specifically building and strengthening executive functioning skills, developing learning strategies and providing support to decrease academic stress.
Academic advising is a process where students envision, execute, and reflect on their academic plans for their degree with guidance from a qualified UMSI Bachelor of Science in Information Academic Advisor. Students share their goals, challenges, and questions with their academic advisor, and their academic advisor contributes knowledge of university and program requirements, policies, and processes. Together, they develop an academic plan that aligns with the student’s personal and professional goals.
The College of Pharmacy’s Student Services team is dedicated to helping students succeed at every stage of their academic journey. We support undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from admission through graduation, offering guidance with admissions, academic advising, financial literacy, records, professional development, and more.
2-year full-time Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science with a broad-based education in the social, behavioral, and biological sciences, preparing students for the practice of contemporary dental hygiene and for leadership roles in oral healthcare of the future.
The EAC provides advising to undeclared engineering students. Their mission is to empower new undergraduate students to take ownership of their academic and personal development, connect with resources and opportunities, and transition successfully into the Michigan Engineering community.
The Engineering Center for Academic Success (ECAS) is a resource to support the academic success of students through a variety of services. The ECAS offers a study area equipped with CAEN-supported computers, and students can utilize free peer tutoring and weekly Supplemental Instruction sessions to assist their learning in various required core courses and introductory departmental courses. The ECAS also manages the administrative processes for the Scholastic Standing Committee, which supports students who are experiencing academic challenges, and the Honor Council, which upholds the standards of academic integrity within the College of Engineering.
Once engineering students declare a major, academic advising transitions from the EAC to Department Advising. Students meet with Department Advisors from major declaration through graduation. This site provides a list of Department Advising contacts for the College of Engineering.
Advising for CoE Graduate Programs is provided by the program’s department. The Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Education (ADGPE) office coordinates the overall support of graduate students within the College of Engineering.
Engineering Honors students are encouraged you to visit CoE Honors Advising for course planning, focus area exploration, capstone planning, academic support, or graduate program questions.
Frankie Quasarano in the Biomedical Engineering Department serves as a pre-health advisor for all Engineers. Undeclared Engineers can reach out to Frankie to schedule a pre-health appointment. Frankie also holds weekly pre-health drop-in advising. The LSA Pre-Health Advising Site and the University Career Center Pre-Health Resources provide helpful information as well.
The Student & Academic Services staff is committed to providing our students with the support they need to be successful in their studies. We work with current students in areas such as registration, class selection, academic support/advising, student organizations, fellowships/financial aid, and graduation.
